Well, it is pretty much that for Mobage, see: Princess Connect and the recent Dragon Maid

They even butchered "Date a Bullet" two parts movie to shill a mobile game for the chinese (which I assume to be who paid for the whole thing).
They did such a piss poor job that even the biggest fans of Kurumi either don't know it exists or pretend they don't.

Even the pirates didn't touch it, the only version available comes from bilibili
