In Audacity, highlight whatever you're changing the pitch of, go to "Effect" (top menu), "Change Pitch..." option. Do not try to fuck around with the slider manually, you'll probably end up in some weird half-shifted state where you're singing notes that aren't actually on the scale, instead just type in a whole number value to the "semitones (half steps)" box and let the program do the math for you.
