Catering to female audience also allows Cover to get a wider range of license deals and sponsorships.
Advertisers pays more (as much as ~20% according to facebook cpm) if your demographics are females just for the simple fact there are a lot more product types or services that can be advertised to women compared to men.
I agree that demographic expansion is risky in Cover's case but they have few options rather than letting that market stay untapped.
Yagoo sees VTuber as a content platform like kpop/anime/manga, and to each of those there are sizable market for either gender demographics.
He'd risk other, maybe larger, corpos exploit that market gap and secured a foothold in the market rivaling his operations.
I personally believe the best course of action is to build up a new brand separate from hololive entirely to try to corner that demographic, though I don't think Cover believes that is necessary as they are grossly underestimating the risks that could incur their current operations with their approach so far.
