I agree with your conclusion and I think in the original post when the chart was posted I mentioned just that.

With that said
>Since when is losing 200 viewers average over the course of 6 months an actual recline
that's the nature of a chart with this wide range, it smooths out any potential seasonal variation, any permanent recline is a true sign of attrition for the audience.

It doesn't mean "lost audience", as it can be seen in the JP half of the chart, it might only mean the end of a particularly buffed period (with some buffed streams falling out of range) or a temporary slump.
Now, when it is followed by an even steeper slump instead of stagnation or a recovery, then it is a sign of something worrisome

>but the whole scene was losing regular viewers for a while.
The 365 days average chart shows just that. Conventional wisdom likewise, that was when HoloEN pretty much lost their three original heavy hitters
>Gura
>Ina
>Ame
all three stopped producing regular content and became more inconstant in their streams and content.

But I'll disagree about the framing, they were not "losing regular viewers", I think nobody had a drop in their **floors**, even the inconsistent ones, their day to day streams just didn't reach the same heights as before.
After July 2022, many of the HoloEN girls had their floors drop 1k, 2k and that's a massive "attrition" in their audience.
That was not casual people opting out of poorly chosen streams, it was dyed-in-the-wool long term fans, sometimes day one members completely giving up and bailing for good.

The impact the poor strategic decision making by EN management during and after Tempus debuts accentuated by Tempus 2 debuts can't be underestimated.

And here is the chart with both on the same axis, for a quick visual comparison.

Here are both the charts for EN and JP, in the same scale and the same picture.

If you split the difference in the 9.5k like it truly looks like the incline of one is the recline of the other, but given the differences in the markets, that doesn't look remotely possible and is clearly a spurious correlation.
