Got a cool idea for OC or heard of one? Something you'd like to exist?
Consider commissioning a professional to do it. Maybe ask for someone in a thread to do it and hope none of the shitty people go for it.
Do not try to make it yourself. You won't do your idea justice. You will embarrass yourself if you ever show it to anyone.
There is no shortage of skilled people out there. (you) are not one of them.

Reminder to keep a respectful attitude towards fanartists who who took precious time out of their day to make something for their oshi and her fans to enjoy and had the courage to put it out there even if it may not be perfect.
This doesn't mean you have to pretend to like something you don't and that can't say anything negative about it.
Criticism can be incredibly helpful when you actually properly express what you don't like about a piece of art.
And no, you don't have to be an artist yourself to give helpful criticism. Art isn't only supposed to appeal to other artists after all, so your input as a layman can be just as helpful.
Just try to be specific about what you don't like. Perhaps you can even think of something positive you can add to your critique as well.
Even if you think the artist will never see your comment the aspiring artists who ARE here can still benefit from helpful or be discouraged by unhelpful comments toward

Uh... don't do stuff. It's bad and you should feel bad.
Also be a cunt for no reason.

Doing your reps but not happy with your progress? Is it more frustrating than fun?
Just stop. There's no point in pursuing a hobby you don't have any fun with.

Reminder to call out bad art at any chance you get if you truly love art.
Bad art being allowed to exist unchecked will only lead to a degradation of standards.
Look at all the AWFUL """artists""" out there who are actually getting paid for their garbage.
This tendency needs to be nipped in the bud by properly conditioning fledgling artists to do better. You ARE entitled to good art. Bad things should be called bad.
No justification needed. A simple "this is bad" suffices. The responsibility to figure out why their art is bad lies with the artist. If you can't figure out why your work is bad yourself you're not ready to show it to the public yet anyway. Read some Loomis and get your shit together.
Besides, negative feedback is just part of being a creator. If that bothers someone they are just not cut out for being one. So don't be afraid to post negative comments anywhere. Even if the actual creator doesn't see it you might motivate bad artists on a similar level to stop being so goddamn complacent.

Remember to keep shitty OC to yourself.
I know you might still hope to be good someday and think that making shitty art is a necessary step to making good art but there's no need to publicly embarrass yourself.
You wouldn't try learning a instrument by practicing in a public place and annoying everyone around you with the noise, would you?
So please wait until you actually got good, (which will probably be never) to post your work.

Before you post your amateurish fanart here please consider how much happier everyone would be about it if it was drawn by a more competent person.
I think we can all agree that it's best to only post GOOD art here.
Feel free to call out the bad stuff. Someone who can't take that isn't going to make it anyway.
