1) It's too bad Nanashi Mumei is already taken as a name, and that the english alternative for it kind of suck. Maybe run with a eastern european equivalent to John Doe/Smith? If I'm reading you right you basically want a name that's widespread but not generic.
2 I think you have two options here. Either somehow wrangle enough art to maintain the same names but have who's who be represented by the art; or use the name indirectly via some wacky title, (i.e 'The Rising Star", "A Fox of the People" "The Idol Struggle") until you do an internal reveal of what those voices really are then you switch to using the real names.

In a way they're both styles that try to get past that initial writing anxiety but if you can't help yourself in trying to get that first draft perfect, maybe the answer for you is in just releasing and moving forward.
