Basically a serial killer comes to the village and is killing everyone axel and the whole song is about finding out who it is.
Obviously the twist is that Axel's character is the main one involved in the case but he himself is the killer

I would like to once again point out a key feature of Axel's cover and it's him slurring his words at the very end of the song to imply he's crying, which is not done in the original at the end of her singing.
