All three are actually pretty connected to 7 since:
>the two major factions in 7 are factions from 4 and 5
>the story also involves an individual from 5 and an individual from a country referenced in 0
>locations from previous games, especially 4, are prominently featured in missions in 7
And while you can enjoy 7 without playing the "Holy Trilogy" there's a lot more to enjoy if you have had that previous exposure to them. Plus they're just great games.
