On my first playthrough I missed the Mantis Lords until endgame map completion autism. It never occurred to me that the lever would unlock a door all the way down offscreen where I came from.
In hindsight my La-Mulana experience should have kicked in there. On that note, La-Mulana is the actual best metroidvania of all time, objectively.
