They fucking tried replacing the people behind the Live2D for their talents to pump out more content. They mistreated some of their top talent so bad that they fucking ran away to other, nicer organizations (namely, Cover). They killed themselves with their own incompetence, on a level magnitudes worse than anything Cover has ever done, hell, worse anything anyone else ever did, including nijis.
The fact that you don't see people openly dancing on their grave these days is a testament to the former Upd8 talent's professionalism.

Spend a month to build yourself up as a unique talent and gaining confidence and familiarity with streaming for Hololive before mixing with the group as a whole.
It's not just "intergen relations" or some shit, it's so that the individual streamers aren't jumping into the deep end of the pool within a week of debut when it is a KNOWN FACT that they are completely different people a month in compared to their debut stream.
Could you fucking imagine a girl getting pigeon holed into their debut personality, then being grabbed by one of the senpais as a collab partner and being seen by the post-debut fanbase as eternally "the senpai's sidekick?" It's a fucking TERRIBLE idea to put them into the whole right away.
