Lets be real here, every reason you can think of for them growing distant is a negative one. If it's a business one then what, business is more important than friendship? For Suisei of all people? Kanata doesn't have a positive reason to one day just stop interacting with an old friend too. To be fair I don't want to implicate either of them. Sometimes it just happens. They seem to be content with it and it's enough for me to be at peace about it.

I think it's for the best, maybe I'm the minority but I think everyone won in the end. They get to enjoy each other's company in private with no obligations whatsoever, that's the best kind of connection to have. In public Kanata isn't compared to Suisei as much anymore and doesn't get hurt by that kind of feedback, Suisei dropped a rock slowing her career down and has more time for the cool people in her life, most Hoshiyomi never cared about Hoshi no Kanata in the first place and I don't have to listen to Suisei's new VA.

As much as I love Hoshi no Kanata I don't think it would be the same now. I'll even go as far as to say it ended at the best possible moment. I'll always have the happy memories about them though. Especially in 3D, damn they're cute together. Like here >>10388464, here's a few more
