>kek why did selejo flop?
I went at length about this last time this subject came, and I'll just copy and past it here because it might be interesting.

Here is an amusing thing, one of the reasons for Nijisanji's downfall was
>STICKING WITH THE "HIGH SCHOOL" TROPE FOR TOO LONG
Back in the late 2010s the ever present meta in pretty much every piece of nip media was the
>High school students, their hierarchy and their clubs
and that wasn't an exception in the vtuber side.
>Mito is a iinchou (class president)
>Ayame is a seito kaishou (student council president)
>Subaru is the head of the MMA club
>Matsuri is a cheerleader
>Toya is a member of the kendo club
most girls (and boys) up until a certain point drew heavily from that high school trope.

Now, that trope was worked to death and started falling out of favor for another one more or less at that time
>kemomimi girls (and other tropes) from a fantasy scenario

That's where Hololive ABSOLUTELY CLOBBERED Nijisanji by front running them on that exact matter.
All of a sudden Holo debuted GAMERS, three kemomimi girls (to join Fubuki), then a generation called "HoloFantasy" with most isekai tropes represented and then, for the final showdown
>Nijisanji debuted Selejo, the "Selene Girls Academy Drama Club"
and, head to head
>Hololive debuted Gen5
and the audience CLEARLY rejected Selejo, to this days one of the worst performing gens of all of NIjisanji.

That, in my opinion, is the reason Selejo failed miserably and Nijisanji conceded the "cute anime girl" market to Hololive: they stuck with the old trope too long and Selejo was the embodiment of that trope
