Eh fuck off, the /vyt/ thread over on /jp/ is fucking dead and this place is pretty much the only thread across both boards that's at least somewhat keeping that thread's spirit alive (the regular schizos notwithstanding).

People used to numberfag back then because those numbers were usually the difference between your oshi putting out content for 6 more months versus graduating at the end of next month. Your oshi was always the priority, not her numbers alone.
Sora herself, along with several other holos like Suisei, Aki, Miko etc. affirmed this, they all had moments with dogshit numbers and constant hate for being "virtual" that they thought of quitting the whole thing multiple times.

Out of politeness they always say it's the fans that urged them to push forward, but even the lowest of 2views will have one or two fans rooting for them.
It's a great gesture, sure, but that shit won't pay their bills.
Without a certain number of subs of CCV, even the most popular Holos of today would have quit their career and went on to do konbini jobs or fleshstreaming or some shit waaay before they reached their peak.

The industry's expanded a lot so a lot more chuubas can get to the mythical 3view mark nowadays and make a career out of it, and there's still anons here that dumpster dive 2views and obscure chuubas looking for rare talents (that can maybe shine in a bigger company, or at least get a few more people watching from word of mouth).
Obviously the industry has changed, and the audience and vibes have changed along with it, but the spirit of old /vyt/, just enjoying the medium of VTubing and rejoicing at it's growth, is only truly alive in this thread.
