To be fair, our terminologies are as mixed up as our understanding. We'd be better off if we had means of differentiating between differing degrees of attraction to minors and recognized more clear distinctions between merely a propensity to recognize attraction towards young people and neurotic or psychotic influence. A fair argument can be made that It's normal to be attracted to people on the cusp of puberty but sexual desire for people below the age of 12 is almost always coming out of some complex. That used to be far more widely accepted but then, what has been warped into the modern dating scene has It's origins in court-ship; which was originally a methodology to vet the intentions and were-withal for an older prospective partner to provide for and treat the younger party as a person of value that they genuinely Loved. Bottom line in my opinion: We should foremost be watching out for indications of dysfunctional expression in any such cases and traits co-morbid with pathological expression in how an individual expresses themselves in day-to-day life and interactions with others as these inevitably correlate with a negative expression of sexuality and a willingness to exploit and use people of all ages for personal gratification and gain.
