Idols and companies always care about subs first. Many in /vt/ will deny Gura being number one yet celebrate when she eventually isn't. No one can be first forever but what is impressive is that Gura remained first for this long and the huge distance she had with the other when everyone also had the covid buff. Only Kizuna Ai has done this and still at this point no one else has beaten her.

People like you keep saying subs don't matter but everyone who actually works in the industry knows otherwise. Sub can be the hardest number to move but is the closest guess to an idol fanbase who will pacifically support and spend money on THAT idol. Fans don't vanish in the air when an idol graduates either that's why people still sub afterwards, that why Kson didn't start from zero. CCVs on the other hand are too influenced by borrowed viewers from other fanbases, specific topic interest, time zones and people having jobs.
