My guess is external pressure, I don't mean in the sense of "this is what the fans want so I must comply" or "the label is pushing for noombers, I must give noombers", I think is in part the same reason Suisei also showed up at the holo summer event and it wasn't just for shilling her stuff, what's could be the reason? Well hololive is a group, the strength of the group is a result of the combined strengths of each one of the members and each one has a different source for their strength, in the case of Mori and Suisei is pretty obvious where that strength comes from, but there are other members that aren't blessed with that kind of strength and rely on other sources like Choco and Mel, maybe they realized that having that attitude of "I'm too good to do that" is basically spitting on those girl's efforts, and Mori does respect the other girls and what they do, that's one source of external pressure, another one would be that all the drama was dragging hololive's name behind which be it by shame or pride in relation to the other girls and the brand made her change her mind.
There is another possibility but I hope that is not the reason, it would end bad.

In my opinion is a decent pool if we take into account how bad it could be. Discards on the spot... there are like 3 or 4 (ignoring men of course)
In terms of voice... most pass, in terms of overall skill... not really jacks of all trades, some of them are almost there but need a little bit of polish/coaching, in terms of affinity with the brand... I don't think most of them fully understand what they are applying for, that's worrisome. From this sample... some of them would need another chance with an audition video to be sure to not miss anything, but that's something we don't have access to.
I would want to increase my options too though, most of them are rank D, maybe a couple of them have C potential, maybe, for the current brand rep you would want at least C and above so I get why they would extend the auditions.
