Ketchup is tomato flavored corn syrup. It's as much of a tomato sauce as LaCroix is a soda.
I can hardly think of anything I'd use ketchup on other than french fries I'm sorry, CHIPS. And even then, a good fry sauce is largely preferable.
1 part ketchup, 1 part malt vinegar, 2 parts mayonnaise - the good shit, Duke's or GTFO, Hellmann's Olive Oil Mayo will do in a bind if Duke's is not available. Kraft, Miracle Whip, store brand, etc. all stay in the trash, where they belong
One of the sandwich shops I like doesn't even have any fuckin ketchup in the store. If you order fries, they give you their house BBQ sauce which I guess is still ketchup since it's ketchup-based BBQ sauce
