I honestly love seeing the wheel of ages turn before my very eyes. It's exhilarating in a way.
All those foundational authors for what we consider 'nerd' culture either lead really interesting /violent lives or read a SHITLOAD about the real world.
The writer of Conan for example was massively into boxing pretty much his entire life from age ten.
Tolkien happily fought.
The invetor of Zelda was hugely into exploring caves.
Etc.
Maybe once we close the circle and create something new worth getting excited for again.
