So I'm struggling with this exact issue. I think your shoulders are wider than your hips, but the torso contour lacks a little definition, particularly in the hip, thigh junction. Ribs are really weird since half don't even attach to the sternum but instead to the costal cartilages which extend way further down that people realize at first. Once I drew those in and kept in mind there's not much space between the "bottom corner" of the ribs and the iliac crest, my torsos started making more sense.
