Only if they heavily depended on imports but Japan is a country with a positive trade balance so a weaker local currency favors them because whatever they lose on mor expensive imports is more than made back with increased exports.

They're also a high end electronics producer, so having foreign electronics (the one thing that fucks up most countries) to become more expensive favors their local market.
