Hell, even if the idea was something completely original to Rick and Morty (it isn't), the execution between how Ame handles her alternative selves and how Rick and Morty handles it is completely different, both tonally and in the specific mechanics. Not to mention Rick and Morty very specifically has a "no time travel" rule for its writers I think, they might have changed it over time, haven't kept up in years.
