Pretty sure it's just this versus the Mediterranean + Asia minor climate we have in the interactive map right now.
Warm model just means we still get to keep most of the "current" (i.e. interactive map) climate when accounting for the error in polar distortion.

Eh I'd want the climate and things that are affected by it like biomes to be realistic, I have the climate for the colder model on hand so I don't think I'm gonna be affected a lot. Some parts of the East is not gonna be what I want 100% but that's not that big of a deal.

Also regarding the island it can just be some kind of freeport that's not owned by anyone, though still subject to regional influences. If they want it for lore reasons then well go for it I say.

Here's the climate map. Really the biggest factor of consideration for the capital should be political and military. The Western part that's Cfb should also be where the wealth and population are overwhelmingly concentrated.
