Sausages are basically skirting the adult cartoon line, which is what Hololive THRIVES on.
Kids can watch Subaru playing with sausages and enjoy it as it is, and adults can laugh at all the "Subaru's sausage" puns, fanart and all the suspiciously named players that Subaru encounters.
In fact, the treading of the line is arguably what ADDS to the comedy, because all adults know it's a euphemism, but it's still not explicit so there's a lot more wiggle room for comedy.

What exactly is gonna be "funny" about it?
Teenagers will see "haha dicks" and laugh for maybe 5 minutes before picking up their phone and doing something else... what do the adults and kids watching get?
It also means that any clever innuendo-based joke names from brrats are no longer add to the comedy, since it's pretty explicit about what it is...
