Go for the extended cut of LOTR. As for Mallrats, it absolutely has to be theatrical. Not even up for debate, it just makes the pacing worse. That's all. There's such a large difference because there's straight up 12 minutes of Kevin Smith and some other people talking near the start of the movie. Dev commentary tier, not worth it.
