She's about half there I'd say. The way she talks about her interests and hobbies unabashed speaks a lot. Her embracing her age, even if its half joking, is also the right step. But I think the idea of sharing her ugly side scares her.
When you spend a lot of years alone, you begin to convince yourself that there's something wrong with you and that your loneliness is deserved.
Not that I would know.

To be fair to her, Marine is (probably, mostly) joking when she says that. Remember that she's playing the bit of an unreasonable boss (not paying her crew, etc) so I don't think she's delusional and above communication. She's willing to reconcile if she's wrong.
But you know what they say about jokes, the good ones have a nugget of truth to them.
