Anon, that's the world we live in.
The world never stays still. Things keep changing. We learn more about ourselves and the things around us every day, and you can either adapt to the world's changes, or die out.
Was it a scam when we moved from the concept of "humors" causing sickness to bacteria? No, but it invalidated thousands of years of theory. Same with the Helio-centric model of the Solar System, or the laws of Special Relativity, or the logic of warfare in an industrial world. Everything we knew became wrong, and it was either learn, or die out, and we learned.

>I think I enjoy watching content based around a team of idols striving to succeed because it's just like watching a sport where a team of athletes strive to succeed, and I've only just realized that watching people strive to improve themselves is a trait shared by many entertainment options

If you want to really fucking look in amazement at the guy, this is what he said at the apex of his career as The Liberator:
>When I contemplate this immense reunited country, my soul mounts to that height demanded by the colossal perspective of a picture so wonderful. My imagination takes flight toward future ages and admiringly observes from them the prosperity, the splendor, and the life which will exist within this vast territory. I am carried away; and I seem to behold it in the heart of the universe, stretching along its extensive coasts between two oceans which nature has separated; but which our fatherland has united by long and wide canals. I see it serve as the bond, as the center, as the emporium of the human race. I see it sending to the ends of the earth the treasures of gold and silver which its mountains contain. I see it, through the healing virtue of its plants, dispensing health and life to afflicted men of the Old World. I see it disclosing its precious secrets to the sages who know that the store of knowledge is more valuable than the store of riches which nature has so prodigally bestowed upon us. I see it seated upon the throne of liberty, the scepter of justice in its hand, crowned by glory, showing to the Old World the majesty of the New World.
Compare what he said in this post to his final words in the earlier post. Latin American history is fucking fascinating.

Ah, so in video game culture, backseaters is equivalent to "secondaries" in /a/ culture? I think this is starting to make sense in a wider context.
I've noticed that hardcore fan groups have tended to make some of the better posters in these threads (MonHun, Nier, Hollow Knight, LobCorp and Undertale streams being the standout examples, with DMC posters having reigned for months at a time). But the games that always seem to attract /v/ermin to them (Source Engine Games) have been a mixed bag, with some great content from Half-Life and TF|2 posters, but lots of spergouts as well.
Understanding that /v/ doesn't play video games, this is starting to make perfect sense. It's just like people who don't read the manga in /a/ threads trying to talk about the story of a manga from anime adaptations only.

When I was a kid I used to read a series about a hamster that could talk I think, and it ended with the, going back in time and staying in the Medieval Age to have a life with a girl hamster that he met and fell in love with after using his ancestral connections to go back in time like it was the Animus, and I always envied that hamster for finding love, and I think there's a connection between that and why I like Kanatan so much now
