My small company oshi has a shocking amount of married viewers somehow.
I personally don't really see why you can't like vtubers and like spending time with the wife and kids at the same time. The average stream takes around the time it takes to watch two episode of cable TV, and nobody ever says that that's incompatible with family life.

In both cases you're passively immersing yourself in a fictitious experience in front of a screen for several hours at a time. If one's alright I don't see why the other wouldn't be.
