im going to say something people will disagree with because muh "quality > quantity" but Cover actually dropped the ball with HoloENs early rush, after the explosive start of Myth they shouldve opened Auds not in Feb but probably December, 3 months was more than enough time to gauge a real EN interest at the time, I feel like EN2 needed to happen at least 3-4 months earlier to keep up a solid tempo rather than relying on 5 girls to basically solo carry an entire branch for 11 months with a 3rd wave in very late 2021 before shifting the gears down. Hololive runs a closed streamer ecosystem for the most part but a closed system of 5 to now 11 streamers is very small to work with compared to their overseas main branch.

I'd unironically watch some niji girls over some holo girls if they interacted. but since niji cant interact with my favorite holo girls I just dont have the time to invest in watching them I imagine theres some more fans like me so that brings niji girls down a little. The niji males on the other hand are a new experience while I wont watch they do bring something new to the western vtubersphere as first big corpo male wave so I can see why they get great pull while nijiEN girls are just another girls vtuber branch of a big notCover corp.
