I'm not sure if you're replying to the right anon. But don't take away that I truly think they're all fake 24/7, I was just being bitter and generalizing. I do (to a lesser degree now as I'm not losing sleep over streams) love my oshi. I wake up to his face on my wall every day still despite not wanting to watch streams. I listen to vtuber music still. Gossip was not the thing that was the final push out of my obsession, just being irritated with growing rigidity. I am not alone in this, and it hit especially hard when SEEDs discussed how things have changed 'from the old days'.
I mean, I am here admitting I am a fan of Nijisanji males. If gossip would make me hate everything I would have stopped watching ages ago as anything said on this board pales in comparison to outside of it, /vt/ is an oasis when it comes to discussion of Japanese males. No comment on EN boys since their stuff never really appealed to me, and I am not being tribalistic but it just felt too astroturfed and oversexual.
Reminds me a bit of how Jerma's humor is deteriorating so hard due to popularity that he pulled a "haha googling 'sidon shoving it down your throat' oh wow I didn't expect PORN to show up!" joke, and people ate it up
