I'll show what can a smaller company do to be sucessful in more or less an adjacent market tho, using one unrelated example.

ABSOLUTELY GENERIC, I had to do a triple take to see if it was not made by the same people doing Princess Connect and HitoriBochi.
It could become a success in Japan but not that much in the west because it has no differential at all from any moe moe idol in the market and the OP is just that, generic and uninspired.

Any smaller company would FALL ON THEIR FUCKING FACE trying to go either the "cute girls doing cute things" (be it in the japanese market or in the north american one) because Hololive got a hold of it (just ask NijiEN girls)
Going full coomerbait wouldn't work either, because you can't compete with VShojo on the "high end" of it, or with regular actual porn thots on the low end.

But the "urban" market is severely underserved. Anons signaled the desire for an eventual StarsEN to be of

Mumei and Fauna actually are moving into that market with their "you know what grind my gears" and "power ranking tier lists" streams.
If other companies won't wake up they'll see exactly that, their porridge competely eaten by a company that didn't even set to do it in the first place.

tl;dr: for the new companies the way in is stop trying to follow the lead of the leaders and start to carve a new separate path
