Because people don't imagine some normal looking kid in those situations, they imagine the Vtuber, which makes for good fanart, funny interpretations and overall good content as long as they don't reveal too much information.

Kinda like how some Hololive art clippers portray the Vtuber as how they would look as kids in the stories the talent have said, instead of a normal looking person if that makes sense.
