I've had the climax of the Lamy arc in my head since I started this series. I made the outline of her prologue chapter that will go into the background of her life and how why the kingdom shes from is how it is since since the winter I think. When I considered some of the ideas and world building it had in mind for that arc, I actually went back in the middle of writing the first arc with Flare in it to sprinkle minor details that would establish some things about half-elves.
I love this drunk snow-elf princess.

A short prologue of sorts can be a nice little tool. Get people's appetites a little wet as well as set the stage for the real meat of your story without having to do a lot of it in the first true installment. I plan to do something similar one of my arcs down the road since it will do well with some background info that would take place before the story began. Plus I really want to write that bit. I have it outlined but I can't let myself write it until I am actually close to beginning the arc it's tied to.
