The map should be a good answer for you, I talked to PPsenpai yesterday with Alice and we came to the conclusion that the terrain and climate of the different regions will develop different cultures from the base imperial culture in interesting ways. Thoughts? The basis PPsenpai gave us was that the nature of terrain, and climate will cause differences in cultures that even though they may share a lot in common, upon closer analysis you will see major differences. (He said this based on his knowledge in Cultural Anthropology and gave us Appalachia vs. Tidewater as an example.)
