Depends on what you didn't like, since Ryza they've had less total characters to talk to but at least in Sophie 2 the cast is good
The maps/worlds are pretty nice and the weather gimmick is kind of fun, plus Major Gathering is a nice way to eschew some gathering rng if you care about that for end-game stuff.
Most important thing being the alchemy they bring back tetris obviously, and they have the cauldron system from 1 but call it reagants instead. I personally kind of liked lysue's alchemy better but it's still a very good system
