Lean is slang for a drug that originated in Texas and was popularized through hiphop music. It's a mix of alcohol, soda, candies, and codeine cough syrup.

Since codeine is an opioid it has fantastically high abuse potential. Naturally, everyone collectively lost their shit. Deadbeats were fighting tooth and nail to convince people that lean referred only to alcohol and she didn't mean codeine. That is factually retarded.

Considering she is from the area where that shit was conceptualized and was involved in the scene that perpetuated its use, the only people that bought that were deadbeats who were at the time catatonic from copium use.
Codeine is a controlled substance in the US, you need a doctor to prescribe it and theres a shitload of restrictions on possessing it. In Japan it can be found being sold over the counter.
I don't particularly like Calli so I personally enjoyed every bit of that shitshow. But the thought of Calli possible spiraling into an opiate addiction whilst her fans stuck their heads in the sand made me kind of sad. I'll bet that some deadbrap will try to refute that lean means alcohol and not the actual definition. That was a fun night
