Just because it is old doesn't mean it is good.
Technically speaking it is a well crafted painting, just like this animation in OP is as well.

The reason these are good is they are in-domain, aka they are consistent with how they are drawn.
This fucker and the animation in OP look diseased and that's why they are bad to look at. The average persons nose does not fucking turn damn near strawberry red when they are cold! That's not how noses work! That's how serious diseases work! Diseases that cause intense inflammation and breaking skin!
