It's not, but it's still pretty damn bad. If what you described is a 10, maybe a 7-8? Definitely not something you'd want to experience for several days straight on a regular basis. But honestly, some of the other symptoms described /here/ sound worse to me just for how disruptive they would be.

Because nobody sharpens their knives, or uses the correct kind of knife. Using a dull/wrong knife sprays more of the irritant into the air. It can really sting bad if you get a lot of it at once. If you're not getting it very bad, you're doing something right.
