I use a proper stainless steel bento box for one thing, season the sushi rice, add a protein such as chicken karaage or salmon chirashi if I'm feeling fancy. Vegetables should also be seasoned, fukujinzuke is common along with julienned cucumber. Chopped salad with wafu dressing that goes with the salmon is always a safe bet. Also add in some cheap roe for color and add an edible guava flower to feel fancy.
