Subscriptions are free and don't necessarily correlate with ccv, much less revenue. Goobers has a shit ton of dead subs (although, even 1/4 of her 4+M is actively engaged....)

Clippers, however, are actual, tangible promotion, and can indicate depth of grassroots support.
