I think you need fo learn to distinguish what arguments and criticisms are made in bad faith by anons trying to stir shit and which ones are legitimate. Either that or take a long break from this board. A lot of Nijisanji livers for example only do vtubing as a hobby, so I think the "girls doing GFE for money" thing in particular isn't universal at all. There are plenty of vtubers that simply want to entertain and have fun.

This is just straight up not true, collabs with comedians, voice actors etc have always been fair game, and plenty of vtubers have established an intimate relationship with their audience by discussing their real life issues with them
Your friend is right, you're just biased towards cute anime girls and biased against 3D women, the more vtubers you know beyond Hololive the more whatever "differences" you perceive between the two are muddled
