This isn't your bro giving you a present, it's a stranger donating money to you because they like your content. If you see it as the former then of course you'd freak out a bit if your bro gave you a lot of money for seemingly no reason.

It's a game with a shitton of freedom, something weirdly unusual for a RPG. That and Larian being succesful despite not being a massive corporation also gives it the whole thing an "underdog beating the big boys" kind of feel that people really like.
I didn't really enjoy it, though. Not even know why, I love RPGs and DnD but I got bored after doing most of the shit in the first area. Maybe it's because I'd rather roleplay as a rando living in the world than being some special fag with special powers on big quest.

idk about that anon but usually it's because people have some sort of fantasy or affection for the girls and having another man interact with them threatens that and makes them mad. It isn't even exclusive to vtubers, you see the same shit with CGDCT anime shows where the only males allowed are like one character's dad (or even regular romcom shit where only the self-insert is allowed to get along with the heroines).
Basically insecurity.
