Diet is 90% of weight loss, it's incredibly difficult to compensate for a shit diet with exercise. For example, two slices of bread is 300 calories. Burning that off takes me half an hour of fairly intense cycling. You should absolutely still exercise, but it's not going to solve your weight issues.

Best way to lose weight and gain muscle is to cut out carbs almost entirely and eat as much protein as you can fit in. Chicken breasts, prepared however you like, are great for this.

Snacks will fuck you over, because processed food tends to feel less filling, and you'll end up eating way more. I can cook half a kilo of chicken breast for 800cal, or i can eat 16 Oreos. That chicken keeps me full for twelve hours, the Oreos do jack shit.

The important thing is that there's no silver bullet, there's no "muhtabolism", there's nothing complex to think about. Grab a diet app like Myfitnesspal, track everything you eat, and as long as you consume less calories than your body expends to survive, you will lose weight. The hard part is sticking to it.
