Saki's bullshit hands are at the same time the best and worst part of the entire series. They do make clear this is fantasy bullshit mahjong, and Ritz is taking better and different herbs in later chapters.

Players like Kajiki, Retard Master and Nodoka play actually good and fair Mahjong, along comes Saki, un-socks her feet and blows the whole crew the fuck out in the biggest disrespect Hanchan I have ever had the pleasure to imagine happening.
