old LCD screen realized you could create ANY color just by combining three colors, red green and blue.
They store the Red, Green, Blue value as an 8-bit value, so from 1-255.
So when you give a program RGB values you are telling it a color. Like
(255, 137, 85)
Red: 255
Green: 137
Blue: 85
and that creates a color, which is a peachy orange in this case.

Colors are also typically stored with a hex value, in this case it's #FF8955
