Okaaaaaaay! My go to si a rum and coke since it's a simpel two indfedient drink that most people like! if you don't want that then there's alwas ys a dark and stormy which uses a dark rum (taraditionally gosling's black rum) with gigner beer. you can alwasy go teh Miami sunset route whihc uses a light (or dark but light keeps the aesthetic) rum (usually that one popular cooconut one) with orange juice and a bed of grenadine that uou make byu lightly poruing it down the side of the glass into the drink. thwn htere's your more complicated tiki drinks like teh painkiller (YUM) but those can run a few liqyros that i can't remember and might be outside yoru comfort zone if your'e new to them. if you can get your hands on a jamican rum, then youv'e got one fo the better ones imo. they ahve a distinct "funk' that isnt 'in other rusm that makes themm soooooo good! It's something that yov have to gfet used to thouhg and some people never develop a taste for them so mayeb dont do that. Demeraran rum is pretyt yummy because it's a bti on the sweeter side relatvie to other rums and they make fro pretty great entry points imo.
I couldn't tell you muc habout tequila because i fucking HATE that shit and i ralrey drink whisky/bourbon. vOdka can go into pretty much anythign so go nuts spiking whatever your'e drinking. Gin is vodka with botanicals and is genertually used to make drier drinks like martinis and sidecars (i think?). You woudl have to loook up those recipes because I don't mess with ginl too often but I believe martinis are a mxi of gin and vermouth unless i'm thnking fo negronis idk.
THere's also rumchata and other cream liquors which are awaesoem for shooting or addign to your coffee!
