Fun fact, a reason some polar populations have darker skin is because of the snow, surprisingly enough. In most regions, the ground is dark, and the sky is bright. But in place with a shit ton of snow, a big fraction of the sunlight is reflected from the ground instead of being absorbed, which results in people there being actually exposed to more sunlight than people living in temperate regions.

I don't think that being allowed/disallowed to do anything has anything to do with being considered a 'Valt'. It's more of a sign of respect and the informal title to codify it. If you are a /nasfaqg/ trader and are considered a Valt, then you've 'made' it. If you're a foreigner and /nasfaqg/ people call you a Valt, that implies a great deal of respect, much more than dryly saying an official title.
Of course, it's all always muddy, and it's more of an exemplification of the /nasfaqg/ ideal or the /nasfaqg/ dream: an independent contractor construction foreman leading 20 people well can be addressed as 'Valt' by his men occasionally as a show of absolute respect. All this hard work by her and her friends, the dreams being realized, the effort and time being put in to giving their fans the best they can, and you think just voices is good enough?
