If you're using Firefox, it should be for the same reason I and plenty of other people started using it way back when and still use it now - not wanting the browser market to be dominated by one single rendering engine.

The MSHTML/Trident dominated web sucked dick. A Blink dominated web could eventually suck the same kind of dick. The "big deal" with Gecko and WebKit was initially how much better they were at actually adhering to web standards and displaying shit properly, and also how much better they performed.

There are lines upon lines of deprecated HTML that were MSHTML specific bandages or workarounds. Microsoft had the right idea with EdgeHTML/Spartan and basically brought MSHTML into the modern world, with massive performance improvements, some impressive JS performance in particular, and some needed, overdue standards adherence. Then they threw in the towel right when they were getting steam and adopted Blink/Chromium. "If you can't beat them, join them."

Firefox is a massive fucking resource hog for NASFAQ, if that's your only concern. Something about its JS engine doesn't play nice with one of the obviously 100% developed by someone that only gives a rat ass about Chrome compatibility JS libraries the site uses. It used to have a memory leak too, but either through a browser update or a change to one of those libraries money on the former that is no longer an issue.

Anyways, to answer your question TL;DR - You don't. Someone who actually still uses it daily can probably give you a better answer, but as far as I know, Firefox has jumped the shark too.

Out of the box, it sends tons of PII to shit like Pocket, tracks you to display "relevant" content on that New Tab page, and so on. It was the "nail in the coffin" that just made me use Edge. If someone is going to have my information "anyways" - Microsoft is already eeking bits of it out directly through the OS. Just take all of it, fuck my shit up. You'd basically be stuck trying to run an older ESR version. Plus all the "trannyfox" stuff people seem to love bawwing about. Dem SJWs got in muh Mozilla.

I didn't disable the thumbnail cache entirely BTW, the GPO setting specifically mentions creating them in shared folders. Icaros plays nice with Windows' own thumbnail cache, and you also get thumbnailing for formats it doesn't otherwise support, "custom" thumbnails like displaying any embedded cover.ext in MKV files, the option to prefer cover_land.ext for said files, etc. It's great. MakeMKV usually embeds some kind of art it grabs from Blu-Rays by default, and I tried adding a poster or some art to anime or movie MKVs and that worked nicely too. I think setting MPV as default for certain video files rekt Windows' ability to show thumbnails for them, that might be why I installed it to begin with. It can dynamically cache thumbnails and Also monitor/scan specific folders you tell it to - I just opted for the former.

You shouldn't be seeing "Thumbs.db" in local folders to begin with...it puts them somewhere else like some %APPDATA% folder or something by default now. Windows Update also doesn't delete them, even for "major" numbered updates like 21H1. You sure you didn't run Disk Cleanup or have Storage Sense nuke them? You did disable Storage Sense, right Anon?

IIRC aggie throws all the assigned layer blending options out the window when you save as a PSD for some reason. Or GIMP just sucks and throws it all out when you load them in.
