Realize that life is not defined by a choice between truth-and-loneliness, versus self-deception, about this one, singular, specific topic. You do get that, right? Existence is not a strict dichotomy between (1) being dissatisfied because you dislike conventional relationship dynamics or (2) being happy by lying to yourself about conventional relationship dynamics? That's a false dichotomy and you're a sucker if you let people tell you those are the only options.

There are thousands of other things you can focus your life on. Most don't rely on the affections of people whose lives and opinions you do not control. You should consider deriving your happiness from something other than relationships (romantic, sexual, or otherwise).
