It’s not even just the ugly part tho. They tried to make her design a mix of eastern and western and botched it. /pol/ memes aside she surely looks like those mixed race caricatures, except instead of race it was “mixed 2D drawing style”.

RatGirl was an immediate success because her design is a pure Japanese 2D anime style. That makes it much easier for fan made illustrations to be made.
