Because he was doing it for a few months as a non vtuber before becoming a vtuber. Which is probably what a LOT of streamers should do. Start out without the rigging to get used to talking to people (or nobody since your audience will be small). Just get used to being on camera, coming up with topics, or just rambling on about things, or just get used to streaming games and remembering chat was still there. THEN break out the vtuber model.

Hime should have done that.
